| i am one discussion section away from the weekend, and i still haven't said anything about last weekend.
i went down to manhattan beach to luke's house with david, luke (obviously), and elisa. it was a long drive both times, but the drive up wasn't as bad because i slept a little bit. i don't really remember the last time i was southern california, but i will be honest and say that i like northern california much better. manhattan beach seemed to be a wealthier area but in general, i hate palm trees. i miss the santa cruz redwoods.
so i'm going to florence this winter and this weekend i bought my plane ticket. i'm flying from sfo to rome on december 31st (it's cheaper to go to rome first rather than directly going to florence) and then i'm flying back from berlin on july 7th. as of now, i know i will be in florence from january to march 19th, and in oxford from april 12 to june 23rd. that leaves about 3 weeks in between quarters to travel, which david and i are planning to do despite the fact that nothing is planned yet. i am pretty excited though. david is studying in germany in the spring, and he doesn't end until july 23rd, so when i'm finished at oxford i'm going to stay with him for two weeks and then come home.
i can't believe i'm going to be gone for more than 6 months. maybe that will get the travel bug out of me, though? i'm pretty nervous about florence and the whole speaking italian thing today, but hopefully immersion will get me comfortable with it. italiano e` una lingua bella.
this weekend i'm away from campus again, but david and i are heading home for the weekend to celebrate his dad's birthday. i'm hoping to see my family too.
oh! i almost forgot. last weekend was halloween and i dressed up as holly golightly (audrey hepburn's character in breakfast at tiffany's). i borrowed my friend's black dress, borrowed my sister's pearls, borrowed my mom's pearls and gigantic jewel pendent thing, and bought a little plastic tiara and some black gloves (i'm sure i'll be using those again..) it was fun dressing up but cold since we were outside and painful since i am not skilled in wearing heels.
and, to keep this update even longer, the paramore concert that was rescheduled is rescheduled for next tuesday... so next week is going to be very hectic. i don't know why they'd reschedule a friday concert for a tuesday, but maybe that's all the warfield had left. either way, i'm really excited to see them.

ok this is not us, but i saw it on papertissue and it's linked backed to "celestephotography." fate? i think so.
i am halfway through midterm stress, sort of. last week was the first week of the stress, and by the end of tuesday it will be over. midterm tomorrow and tuesday, and a paper due tomorrow morning.
i was pretty set on a quiet weekend writing my paper and getting stuff done. i was talking to david on aim and he said he was leaving to watch tv, and about an hour went by and he walked right into my room! such a great surprise :)
we went to my friend's birthday party that night and left a little early to watch the office and community together. (both are such good shows!) we played some games and just hung out which was nice. he downloaded season 1 of 30 rock for us to watch together but i don't think i like the show very much :\
on saturday i tried to work on my paper some. my sisters came to visit with my two nieces and we walked around campus. we got frozen yogurt and while we sat at a table outside, i saw a girl from my greek class studying for our midterm... -_- i still feel guilty. after my sisters left, there was a house party in the co-op i live in and it was very crazy. we stayed in our room for the most part playing games but sometimes we went out and there were SO many people. my house is called terra so the party theme was "terra fawcett" for a 70's theme.
we didn't go to bed until really late so it took us a while to get up this morning. i finally finished my paper! and we took elaine to san jose to pick up a camera she was buying from a guy off craigslist. she got the model that came out after mine so i'm pretty jealous, but really happy for her. but now i'm looking for lenses to upgrade with but they're really expensive.
so now.. i should be studying for my greek midterm tomorrow but i'm not really sure how to do it because everything seems so broad. however, once that midterm is over, and i finish my italian midterm on tuesday, stress should decrease until finals. can't wait for thanksgiving break! | | |
| this weekend has been pretty good.
i worked on friday so it wasn't a 3 day weekend like other weeks, but david came late friday afternoon and we went to my house happy hour, ate delicious mashed potatoes and chicken that my roommate (elaine) made a recipe for, and stayed up late watching episodes of the office and community. on saturday i had some cleaning to do and then we went to watch the stanford and santa clara water polo game. it was elaine's birthday and she had a friend playing (and david wanted to see the game) so it was pretty fun. when we got back, chelsey and sarah surprised elaine and we kidnapped her to go see where the wild things are. did a little homework, went to a room party, stayed up in bed talking.
